Andy Warhol comes to Calgary

Museum hosts collection of artist's athletic portraits

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is hosting a collection of works by legendary artist Andy Warhol from Jan. 12 to 30.

The exhibit, Andy Warhol: The Athlete Series, showcases photographs of famous athletes captured by the renowned American artist, including pieces with his iconic pop art stylings.

The museum is also featuring works by Canadian artists along with other selections of Warhol's work in an accompanying exhibit called Andy Warhol & Companions: Great Moments in Pop - sport, art, celebrity.

The Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 104 - 800 Macleod Trail S.E. on the main floor of the Calgary Municipal Building. It is open 11:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission is free.
