Hoping to make it easier to buy unique, handmade gifts, that are not found in regular gift shops, Tiffany Armitage opened the Ravens Room to give people a place to find them. At the same time, she wants to provide local makers with a venue where they can sell their work.

It was not until October 2018, however, that Armitage had enough confidence to quit her job and open her own store.

Veganism is a popular lifestyle that has grown over the years, with more and more families raising their children on a vegan diet. As a result of this increase, many people wonder if, and how, you can raise healthy children on a vegan diet.

Calgary Journal reporters Holly Maller and Hillary Ollenberger produced this short documentary that delves into the topic of "Raising Little Vegans."

Maller and Ollenberger spoke with local experts and one Calgary mom to find out more about this new and evolving lifestyle choice.

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, according to Calgary’s Silver Linings Foundation. A fact that is not well known as these illnesses are often overlooked and shrouded in secrecy, says the foundation’s executive director Colleen Hauck.

A Mount Royal University student had been struggling with her mental health for some time, but it wasn’t until she had to get an abortion as a result of an unhealthy relationship that she decided to utilize campus counselling services.

The student, who will be referred to as Jordan to protect her identity, was referred to counselling services by her faculty advisor. However, she wound up waiting two weeks for her appointment, and is still faced with lengthy wait times even now that she’s become a regular. The toll it takes on her varies from week to week.
