She is vain. She is vindictive. She is vogue; or so Visha Loo – a Calgary-based contortionist, artist, and fetish event planner – describes herself.

A familiar face in Calgary's alternative scene, Visha Loo is a stage character created by Janice Adshade, who sews all her own lace and latex costumes, sports outlandish makeup and is the creative director behind her shocking – and usually adult-only – performances in Calgary for the past six years.

Local artist named Calgary's first poet laureate

Kris Demeanor is a Calgary artist embedded in many aspects of artistic expression in Calgary, such as music, spoken word and video making.

On March 19th, 2012 he was named Calgary's first poet laureate by a group of judges. He was selected from a short list of five Calgary artists after performing at an event at Hotel Arts.


Walk-In Closet helps local women get back to work with style

The Calgary Walk-In Closet provides women who face financial barriers the chance to get back into the workplace with a new wardrobe. Through the help of volunteer image consultants, the women walk out with a big bag filled with new and gently used clothing donated by Calgarians.
