As the Oct. 21 federal election approaches, recent polls point to a close race between Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives and Justin Trudeau’s Liberals. Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats are in third place and Elizabeth May’s Green Party, though in fourth, is predicted to win more votes than ever before.

Nilufer Hasanova was at work when her phone rang at 2:57 p.m. on July 8th. Looking at the caller ID, she saw it was a friend she hadn’t spoken to for over a year. Suspecting the call was a pocket dial, Hasanova ignored it and continued with her work.

Later that day, she received a Facebook message from the same friend, asking if they could continue their chat.

“I’d love to chat with you,” Hasanova writes. “But we haven’t been chatting, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”

You would think having your kids taken away from you would be the wake-up call needed to kick an addiction. For Sarah Rene, this was not the case. When her drug use got so bad that her two daughters and son were taken from her, things only got worse.

In an effort to be more inclusive, Mount Royal University has recently built washing stations for Muslim faculty and students to use before they participate in daily worship. Islamic practitioners are required to wash themselves in a very specific process in order to enter a state of purity before they pray.
