Canadas's Richest Indian Rodeo

The Tsuu T'ina Nation Indian Rodeo, which claims to be "Canada's richest Indian rodeo," was held July 22 to July 26 at the Redwood Fair Grounds, the 41st installment of the annual event west of Calgary.

Competitors tackled different events to win cash prizes and a chance to qualify for the Indian National Finals Rodeo in to be held Nov. 3 to Nov. 10 Las Vegas. The event featured more than $100,000 in prize money.

Daniel Trifan was there to photograph the event and said, "With contestants from all over North America, they mentioned that there were very tough horses, some of the best."

Events included team roping, barrel racing, breakaway, bull riding steer riding, bareback, saddle bronc, tie down roping, steer wrestling and team roping. There were even special events for the little competitors such as a junior rodeo and sheep riding.

The event also included a pow-wow, ball tournament, golf tournament and a concert by Martina McBride an American country music singer.
