Saunders is an international-affairs columnist for The Globe and Mail. He has served as the paper’s London-based European bureau chief, run the paper’s Los Angeles bureau, and has written from East Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East and North Africa. Saunders is also the author of two other books, Arrival City: The Final Migration and Our Next World and The Myth of the Muslim Tide.
In his career, Saunders has won the National Newspaper Award five times, the Schelling Prize for Architectural Theory, the Donner Prize and the National Library of China Wenjin Book Award.
