In the heart of Calgary, on Centre Street and along the Bow River, Chinatown stands as a monument to history, food, and architecture. But its story didn’t begin there. Originally, it sat on Macleod Trail where City Hall now is. A fire in 1886 destroyed the original Chinatown, forcing its residents to relocate to where it sits today — a destination neighbourhood rich with culture.
