Diana Frost is using her artistic talent at the Alcove Centre of the Arts to promote reconciliation. Frost, a Métis artist, is leading workshops aimed at fostering comprehension and bridging cultural divides.

“We can understand something much more viscerally through art than we ever could reading a book or listening to someone speak because there’s something about art that touches you,” said Frost.

Sally Njoroge, who works for the Trico Changemakers Studios and is the program lead for the Arts for Social Change Network (ASCN), partnered with Frost to host a workshop at the Alcove Centre of the Arts.

By incorporating Indigenous ideas and practices into her art and lessons, Frost aims to create an environment where people embrace a variety viewpoints that fosters reconciliation with Indigenous communities

Njoroge said, “We are using art to facilitate conversions that can aid in social change.”
