After it was all said and done, Jeromy Farkas narrowly edged out Sonya Sharp by less than 600 votes in unofficial results, meaning a recount is possible.
“While we don’t know the results, I look forward to the next couple of hours and the next couple of days with you all,” said Farkas on Monday night.
Incumbent mayor Jyoti Gondek will not return for a second term.
“I’m profoundly grateful for the privilege of having served this incredible city, the best city in the world,” said Gondek. “Although this night marks the end of my campaign, it does not end my work in this city.”
Calgary Journal reporters were at all three campaign parties. Here are the best images they captured from election night.
