Calgary Transit remains a common way for people to get around the city — especially students.

Rida Younis, a third-year biology student at Mount Royal University, regularly takes transit to get to and from school.

“ I’ve noticed that since this year I started, they’ve definitely decreased the amount of buses that show up, and I’ve noticed a lot more cancellations of buses,” said Younis.

Along with the cancellations, students have also said they sometimes find the buses unreliable because they don’t always run on schedule and sometimes fill up early along the route.

Transit officials respond

Andrew Leung, head of service planning for Calgary Transit, says they are aware that demand is high.

“So at the beginning of the year, or sorry, I should say September, we increase our bus service to accommodate these increased student loads,” said Leung.

Leung adds that transit constantly monitors rider data to improve service.
