During the 55th annual Juno Awards this evening, popstar Nelly Furtado will be honoured as the sole 2026 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Calgarians can get a special insight into Furtado’s two and a half decade long career with a new exhibit at the National Music Centre.

Furtado’s notebooks, original song lyrics, awards, and costumes are just some of the newest inductee’s artifacts currently on display.

Interpretive texts tell the story of Furtado’s career in chronological order – from her early childhood in Victoria, B.C., to the many achievements and awards that helped her earn her spot in the Hall of Fame.

However, for most visitors of the exhibit on Saturday, their attention was instantly drawn to the fashion on display.

The earliest outfit displayed is from Furtado’s first Grammy Awards in 2002, when she was nominated in four categories and won her first Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

A total of 11 eye-catching, recognizable outfits, including a fully monochrome pink outfit she wore during her Coachella performance in 2024, are on display in the exhibit.

Additionally, two pairs of high heels and two shirts, one of which was worn by Furtado in the “Maneater” music video, are displayed.

One of the exhibition texts expands on how her sense of fashion and expression is interwoven with her personal approach to storytelling.

Along with the new Furtado feature exhibit, the entire fifth floor of the centre was refurbished to honour all the artists previously inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The feature exhibit was created in partnership with the Canadian Academy Recording of Arts and Sciences and will be available to visit until February 2027.
