Calgary Wild FC absorbed its worst home loss of the early season on Sunday, May 24, 2026, falling to 4-0 Halifax Tides FC. The near 3,000 supporters at McMahon Stadium still believe in what the club can become.
This is Calgary Wild FC’s second season in the Northern Super League since its debut year in 2025. The home crowds have been among the league’s best through the club’s first two years, averaging around 3,300 per game since.
Although Halifax built a 3-0 lead in the first half, the Kids’ Day turnout brought a strong and supportive crowd to McMahon.
Calgary Interim Head Coach Sinead McSharry said she was disappointed in the performance despite the improved effort in the second half.
“I brought up the fact that the fans were still cheering us on as loudly and proudly at 3-0 down,” McSharry said. “That’s just not the standard.”
Halifax took away any rhythm the Wild built on offence as scoring opportunities didn’t happen, which put their defence at a disadvantage.
McSharry said poor communication and missed assignments led to Halifax’s scoring chances in the first half.
“I could have probably heard a pin drop out there,” McSharry said. “There were very few individual performances at the time that were taking ownership.”

The Wild showed more improvements after halftime by changing their defense and allowing fewer chances for Halifax to score. Those adjustments helped them control more possession and push the ball, but that still didn’t result in getting on the scoreboard.
McSharry praises the effort in the second half, but said that the loss raised questions about the team’s direction.
“You’re at a fork in the road right now,” McSharry said. “You can either go down the route that’s less favourable, or all of us go home tonight and look in the mirror and think about what individually we can do to help the collective.”
The energy from fans never left at McMahon Stadium as women’s soccer continues to grow in Calgary.
“The crowd was truly, I think, the 12th woman for us,” McSharry said. “Sometimes when you don’t know what to do, you just look at that crowd.”
McSharry hopes fan engagement continues despite the loss.
“This crowd is phenomenal and they really help keep us all going. We’re really grateful for them.”
