More than 1,000 athletes competed in the Calgary Ironman 70.3 over the weekend.

The gruelling competition, which began with a two-kilometre swim at Ghost Lake east of Cochrane, Alta., followed by an 88-kilometre bike ride and capped off with a half marathon (21.1 kilometres), attracted athletes from around the world.

Nanaimo, B.C’s Ryan Seaman was the overall winner with a time of 4:10:20.
