On Sept. 20, Mount Royal University held a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7. The Treaty 7 flag and the survivor flag, designed by Elders from the National Centre of Truth and Reconciliation, were raised to inaugurate the Journey to Indigenization.
This annual event marks the university’s continued efforts towards reconciliation and honouring Indigenous heritage and survivors of residential schools.
