It’s Sadaf and Cassie, back with another roundup of stories worth a break from your assignments. Grab your coffee, ignore that unread discussion board for a minute, and catch up on this week’s stories, local events and photos.

Plus, this week’s Calgary lore comes with a side of ginger beef. Suddenly, we’re very invested in history.

Calgary lore of the week

Your takeout order has a hometown

Calgary’s greatest contribution to your Friday night might be ginger beef. The sweet, crispy dish was invented at the city’s Silver Inn restaurant in the 1970s.

So technically, ordering takeout counts as supporting local history. You’re welcome.
