University Disctrict’s Northwestival
December 5, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
In a cold winter like Calgary’s, the warmth of a community festival for all to enjoy does wonders.
For the 4th time, University District is hosting Northwestival, an outdoor conglomerate of fun holiday activities, taking place this Sunday.
Showcasing some of the season’s best ways to celebrate the event will bring back acclaimed elements from past years, but will add some surprises as well, which might also become favorites. These include live performances and entertainment, with music from The Royal Foundry, fire-breathers, acrobats, an appearance by the Snow Queen and much more.
That’s just a portion of what to expect. There will also be arts and crafts workshops thanks to Pinnovate, local vendors from the Peak to Prairie Market to fulfill your holiday shopping needs, like the unmissable Cabane à Sucre maple taffy making and the opportunity to cuddle with a kangaroo, to name a few of the amazing attractions the festival has to offer.
Obviously, a great part of this time of year is all that it involves food and drinks, that’s why you will be able to enjoy hot beverages and snacks from Jane Bond BBQ and Sugar Creek Kettle Corn Co. Plus, there will be toasty fire pits for you to warm up and make some delicious s’mores.
Don’t worry about your phone space for pictures (because you will probably want to document lots of the activities), the Frosty Memories photo booth has got you covered to capture the special moments shared with friends and family.
Admission is by donation, which will go to supporting the I Can for Kids charity that helps feed children and youth. Donations will be matched by Save-On-Foods.
There will be free activities as well as token based ones, ranging from 1 to 5 tokens each. These can be purchased for $1 on-site.
