During the first World War, Canada enacted the War Measures Act for the first time resulting in many Ukrainian immigrants being imprisoned and forced into hard labour against their will.
Many of those stories have gone untold for over 100 years.
Left in the cold is a multimedia project that focuses on the history of Canada’s first internment operations and why many Canadians have never heard of this. Experts, artists and descendants of those interned help to piece together what happened so many years ago.
