Good morning, and farewell from your Calgary Journal 2026 winter editorial team.
As our team works away editing and publishing a range of upcoming student stories, many of us are also soaking up the final weeks of academic life before heading out into theโฆ
*dun dun duhhhhhhhhhh*
real world.
*gasp, shiver, thinking to yourself โoh no, but I am just a wee lass, how will I ever make itโ in a slightly Scottish accent*

While the future remains unknown, what we can say for certain is how grateful we are for this opportunity to pop up in your inbox each week to share a piece of our team with you.
None of this would be possible without the help and support of several dedicated journalists and communication professionals, such as our managing editors, Brooks and Robson, whom we call our professors, and now our friends.
On a final note, we want to thank all our readers, peers, and contributors. We truly hope you have enjoyed our run as newsletter editors, as it has been a joy for us. A new editorial crew will be back in the fall — and the Calgary Journal will continue to publish great local and national stories all summer long!
Cheers,
Emma & Daria
P.S. to future editors: Brooks’ favourite gum flavour is blueberry.

While we did say last week that we would get back to a student photo gallery, we are still revelling in the photos from the Artemis II mission. For our final gallery, we are showing some of the images that gave us both earth and “moon joy“.

NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, commander of the Artemis II mission gives a shaka hand gesture as he and NASA astronaut Christina Koch, mission specialist; background, NASA astronaut Victor Glover, Artemis II pilot, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, mission specialist; prepare to depart by helicopter off USS John P. Murtha, Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of California. NASAโs Artemis II mission took the quartet on a nearly 10-day journey around the Moon and back to Earth, splashed down in the Pacific Ocean at 5:07 p.m. PDT (8:07 p.m. EDT).
