Happy Sunday!

Here’s our recap of the week:

Michael B. Jordan won the Oscar for best actor following his impressive double lead performance as the twin characters, Smoke and Stack, in Sinners. The cast also performed the film’s original song โ€œI Lied to youโ€ and mimicked the colourful scene with dancers of Asian and African descent from the past, present and future.

Misty Copeland, a celebrated prima ballerina, took centre stage at the end of the performance, one of the evening’s several jabs towards recently resurfaced comments from Timothรฉe Chalamet.

During a CNN & Variety Town Hall Event, Chalamet claimed he โ€œdidn’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like keep this thing alive even though no one cares about it anymore.โ€

For some more local controversy, we have been following the Calgary Library’s decision to open applications for an AI art residency. Our Treaty 7 reporter, Janine De Castro, has more on that story here.

We hope you all enjoy a week of warmer weather with only single-digit negatives. We can only hope the grass begins to green soon!

We would also like to invite you all to a FREE online event about podcasting, ethics, and AI on March 24th. Make sure you sign up now and share with any friends, family, or acquaintances who may be interested!

Sports Recap

The Mount Royal University Cougars menโ€™s hockey team was back on the national stage this past week.

After an impressive playoff run, including a win over the Calgary Dinos, MRU has secured just its second berth in program history at the U SPORTS University Cup in Halifax. But the Cougars fell short in the tournament.

With the FIFA World Cup approaching this coming summer, national teams around the world are ramping up preparations, and Canadaโ€™s menโ€™s national soccer team continues its preparations, building momentum through international matches as they aim to make an impact on the global stage.
