Members of the 501st Badlands Garrison suit up to help put smiles on kids’ faces

Some Calgarians have pieced together armour of their own and have made it their mission to find adventure — not in a galaxy far, far away, but right here in the city.badlandsShawn Trainor helped send a five-year-old child to Disneyland.

Shawn Trainor is a member of Calgary’s own 501st Badlands Garrison. The legion of diehard fans suit up in Star Wars-famed Stormtrooper armour for charity events, fundraisers and awareness walks all over Calgary.

Partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the group recently helped send five-year-old Bishop Brown to an adventure in Disneyworld. Before leaving, Brown was seen off by none other than Darth Vader himself.
