Fashion bloggers sell high-end treasures for local charity

Local fashion bloggers stepped outside of their online domains and strutted onto the checkered floors of Eau Claire Market last month. Long-time followers and thrifty fashionistas interacted with the online moguls while shopping through their wardrobes at the first annual House of Bloggers Shopping Bazaar.
Hundreds of shoppers browsed through bargain bins full of high-end accessories and silently bid on donated items. All of the event’s proceeds were donated to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta.
Event organizer KD Faustino sold countless articles of brand name clothing, leaving her booth almost bare by the events end.

KD Faustino, event organizer and face behind thegirlwiththemessyhair.com, says that though she felt inspired by a need to downsize her overflowing closet, donating sale proceeds to charity was essential.
“It’s shopping for a great cause, what’s better?” Faustino says. “The day has gone really well and we have sold a lot of stuff. I am already looking forward to doing this next year and supporting another foundation.”
The shopping bazaar raised $1,205, which will be used to provide families with comfort and support during cancer diagnosis.
Jillian Miller, manager of community incentives at the foundation, says she feels fortunate to receive such an outpour of community support.
“This event has been great and we are absolutely thrilled to be here,” Miller says. “The fashion bloggers involved have been raising awareness through social media, so it has been a really great turn out this year.”
