Tucked away in the Eau Claire Market, Apik Art Gallery attracts dozens of people to its open house event for Calgary’s Artwalk.

This community-focused gallery emphasizes creative expression, no matter what your personal situation is. As a result, its walls are graced with a diverse range of artwork, each piece telling its own story.

Artistic Director, Bany Declair, believes each one of these artists has endless potential.

“I was asked the question, ‘Who is going to be the featured artist tonight?’ and it was such a difficult question because for me, all of my students are true artists,” she says.

Tara Peters, owner of Apik Art Gallery, believes this sense of community is what makes her gallery so special.

“Providing a welcoming space for budding artists of all ages makes me feel very proud. Our environment is very unique.”

Calgary Journal videographer, Sarah Green, attended Apik Art Gallery’s open house on Sep. 15, 2018 and caught up Declair at the event.
