Bright. Bold. Colourful. These are just some words to describe Calgary’s downtown. Flashing lights and neon signs have become a symbol for having a good time, be it dancing in a club or going out for a late night snack.
The lights in Calgary compliment the old and the new architecture. An example is the Calgary tower. Built in the 1960s, lights were added later to bathe the building in many different colours, which compliment the Calgary skyline at night.
Other bright lights can be seen in Chinatown near the Bow building. One of the notable symbols are the neon restaurant displays shining on the unique architecture and cultural additions.
However, as you leave the city centre the lighting cast by signs lessens into darkness.
