Ginella Massa is the first hijab-wearing on-air news host in North America and she has not finished breaking down barriers for women in the workplace.
With over 10 years of experience on and off camera, Massa has reported for both local and national networks, and has received a Canadian Screen Award and a Top 25 Canadian Immigrant award. She is currently the host of Canada Tonight on CBC News Network.
In an interview with Journal reporters Gabrielle Pyska and Lexi Freehill, the Toronto journalist spoke about her fight for opportunity in the field, her experience as a woman on a national platform, and her thoughts on allyship and equity.
