Around Alberta

On Feb. 26, Taste of Africa was held at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert. The event — presented by the local Africans & African Descendants Friendship Club — is a variety show where African descendants showcase the beauty of their heritage.

Women, men and children walked on the stage in their colourful attires followed by drumming, story telling, singing, dancing and eating to embrace their African culture and share it with the audience.

“Taste of Africa brings communities together,” said Kabelo Mokoena, a volunteer at the event. “Right now everyone has been locked away because of COVID-19 and this moment means a lot that people can get out and meet and have fun.”
