The Mount Royal University Cougars men’s volleyball team matched up on the Kenyon Court against the University of Alberta Golden Bears for their regular season finale on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
It was a spirited affair, as veteran Cougars Jovan Stepanovic, No. 12, and Paul Dionne, No. 14, played in their final match with the team. Both players were honoured during a pregame ceremony.
Ultimately, the Cougars were unable to send them off with a victory, as they were swept 3-0 (17-25, 22-25, 21-25).
Six-hundred and seventy-five spectators attended the event.
After the final whistle, players from the home team gathered with friends and family on the court for the final time this year.
The men’s volleyball team finished the regular season with a 5-15 record and did not earn a spot in the playoffs this year.
