Music, laughter and crafting filled the Cornerstone Music Café on Feb. 16 during the free, family-friendly event – For the Love of Art & Music.
Curiosity is turned into joyful melodies as kids, and other visitors, get hands-on mini music lessons within the various 2-person studios throughout the café. Students can roam from studio to studio, interact with the teachers, and sign up for a free lesson in whichever instrument is most appealing (including piano, guitar, cello, drums and more).
Art activities hosted at the back of the café added another layer of fun, creating an immersive experience for budding creatives in Calgary.
While taking in the music, parents and other visitors can seat themselves and enjoy hot meals, drinks and treats served from the café.
Adding to the variety of options on the menu, Cornerstone Music Café also participated in YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, serving up a rich, spicy creation – hot Mayan cocoa. Each cup sold supported Meals on Wheels, a non-profit organization providing Calgarians in need with freshly prepared meals.
The highlight of the afternoon was a live performance by CELIN, an independent singer-songwriter based in Calgary, who captivated visitors with her voice and guitar.
Through providing a welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of community, owner and co-founder Sylvia Johnston crafts a safe space for young Calgarians to explore their creative pursuits.
