With the end of the term quickly approaching, many students do not have the time to slow down and smell the roses. They are in a constant rush to get to their next class and finish off the last batch of assignments. That is why Brenna Blundell, from Student Community Standards, decided to hold an event to bridge the gap between education and appreciation.
Good Humans, Kind Words: Postcards of Appreciation took place on mainstreet at Mount Royal University on March 26. The occasion allowed students to write a thank-you letter to someone they know, then they either posted it on the board for everyone to see or the organizers put them in the mail to be delivered.
“This event is about bringing our community together, staff, students and faculty,” said Blundell. “So that hopefully people can be good humans to each other and get something nice given to them.”
Since English is not her first language, Shaina Villapana wrote a letter to her professor to show her appreciation.
Villapana said, “She gave me a new perspective in communication, helped me to be comfortable with it, and taught me to respond or deal with different conversations. She has been really kind and I appreciate her a lot.”
In the future, Brenna is planning similar events like this that spread kindness throughout the year .
