The nonprofit Calgary Corporate Challenge (CCC) hosted its annual Human Bonspiel event with businesses from around Calgary in attendance. The Human Bonspiel is a humorous take on curling where human players stand in for the rocks. The intent is for businesses to foster team-building and community relations with other businesses and other members of the community.

Jacquie Li, Executive Director of the CCC, said that it was the belief of her team that there’s nothing more important than taking some time to cut loose during one’s day to day.

“We spend the majority of our time at work. You spend more time with your co-workers than your family sometimes and we think it’s really important that you build strong connections so that it’s a joy to go to work and not a hassle,” Said Li.

The Human Bonspiel is just one of the CCC’s many events hosted year-round, their flagship event being the September Games, which, as Li notes, also includes curling.

“We just thought it was a fun little pivot, and another way to keep people engaged throughout the year,” Li added.

The CCC supports over 130 businesses across Calgary, and anyone interested in registering their business to participate in one of their events can visit the CCC’s website at calgarycorporatechallenge.com

“We’re just happy to be part of a small thing that sort of just makes Calgary a really nice place to live, work and play,” Li said.
