Here’s everything to know about voting in the upcoming municipal election.
Who is running?
Mayoral candidates include current mayor Jyoti Gondek and Jeromy Farkas, who placed second in the 2021 municipal election.
Two of the candidates are running as part of political parties, including Sonya Sharp, who leads the Communities First party and Brian Thiessen with the Calgary Party.
Who can vote?
You must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, and reside in Alberta. To vote for mayor, you must live in the city of Calgary, and to live in a ward, you must vote for its corresponding councillor.
At the voting station, ensure you have one piece of valid ID. Ensure you are aware of the ID types accepted at the voting station.
When and where to vote?
From Oct. 6 to 11, you can vote in advance polls from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can vote at any of the Advance Vote voting stations. Find out where here.
Election Day is Oct. 20. You can vote from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on that day. Vote at your designated Election Day voting station. Find your designated voting station here.
