Calgary’s Women’s Centre hosted a community movie night featuring Hidden Figures in, inviting women and gender-diverse people to come together for an evening of film and connection.
The event took place in the early February, where attendees watched the movie and had the chance to socialize and discuss its themes afterward.
Organizers such as Sarah Rinke-Nmai say the goal was to offer an accessible, welcoming space that helps reduce isolation and strengthens community ties, while highlighting a story about overlooked contributions and perseverance for Black history month.
The centre encourages people to attend with friends or on their own and seek out their upcoming events to further connect with the community.
