A man has been charged with manslaughter in the overdose death of a teen girl in Calgary last year.

Police allege the man and two 16-year-old girls used drugs in his home in November and that the next morning the man found one of the girls unconscious.

He called 911 but paramedics were unable to revive the girl.

An autopsy determined that she died of a carfentanil overdose.

Police say its drug investigations team determined a charge is warranted in the case.

The 40-year-old man was arrested Thursday.
