Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Canada today for its support during the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy met in Calgary with Prime Minister Mark Carney before addressing federal cabinet members gathered in Banff, Alta.
In remarks before their discussion, Carney said Ukrainians helped build Alberta, and Canada will help to rebuild Ukraine when Russia’s war ends.
Zelenskyy said he is thankful for all of Canada’s support since the very start of the war, which Russia launched in 2014 and expanded to a full-scale invasion in 2022.
He said talks with Canada will include preparations for winter and for the prospect of further Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.
Zelenskyy will speak with media later today before he and his wife visit Toronto and North Bay, Ont.
