One person was fatally stabbed in Calgary’s East Village Friday night.

Police say they received a report of an assault with a weapon around 7:00 p.m. in the community in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E.

After arriving on scene, one male victim was found suffering significant wounds.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, he later died from his injuries.

After speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, investigators released photos of a man and woman believed to be connected to the incident.

Police say two men who knew each other became involved in a physical altercation. One man produced a knife and stabbed the other.

“This was a brazen act of violence that claimed a person’s life,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “We are working to determine exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”

An autopsy has been scheduled for Oct. 6, 2026.

Anyone with information can contact police at 403-226-1234 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
