As the fall chill starts to settle, Calgarians gathered at Blue Grass Garden Centre north of the city to celebrate the changing of the season.

The annual Blue Grass Pumpkin Festival ran on Oct. 10 and included many fall-inspired activities such as hay and pony rides, a petting zoo, market vendors, and more.

The festival ended with a giant pumpkin drop where a 545 kilogram pumpkin was dropped more than 30 metres, smashing a decorated vehicle sitting below.

All proceeds of the event go towards the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. The event has run for the past 23 years, with the hope of many more years to come.
