Whew! We’ve made it through the first half of the fall semester. And honestly? We deserve a nap, a medal and maybe even a pumpkin spice latte to get us through the rest of the week.

Reading break at MRU is next week, which means you can take that well-deserved break. To wrap up this week, we’ve got news stories, photo galleries, and events coming up in Calgary.

Dive into some of our top stories from this week:

Calgary Lore of the Week

Naming Calgary

The name Calgary comes from Calgary Castle on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, where Colonel James Macleod was a frequent summer guest. The Gaelic origin is commonly translated as “clear running water” or “beach of the meadow,” though the exact meaning is debated.
