Welcome back to another edition of the Calgary Journal newsletter!

There’s been plenty of excitement around the city since you last heard from us. The Calgary Flames treated fans to a nail-biting overtime victory Wednesday night, defeating the Edmonton Oilers on the road in an eight-round shootout.

Thanksgiving falls on Monday, Oct. 13, and many Calgarians are looking forward to the long weekend festivities. If you donโ€™t have anything planned just yet, weโ€™ve got some events in this newsletter that might pique your interest!

At the Journal, Thanksgiving doesn’t just mean turkey and mashed potatoes โ€” it also marks the start of Mount Royal Universityโ€™s reading break. And while it sounds like a week off for students, in reality, itโ€™s less of a “break” and more of an “academic survival mode with snacks.”

Most importantly, Calgaryโ€™s Election Day is October 20th. To find out where to place your vote, you can use this interactive map from the City of Calgary.

Additionally, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to vote and other important election details.
